The Importance and Benefits of Drinking Water

Water makes up about 65% of the Human Body. Each day Humans must replace 2.4 liters of water in their body, some through drinking and the rest taken from the food we consume. Staying hydrated is crucial to our physical and mental health.

.The Breakdown of Water in the Human Body: - Muscles consist of 75% water - The Brain consists of 90% water - Bones consist of 22% water - Blood consists of 83% water - Lungs consist of nearly 90 % water

If we constantly fail to hydrate our bodies properly there are several negative side effects. Some of these side effects include high blood pressure, dry skin, arthritis, tiredness, digestion problems, muscle cramps and slowing down your metabolism. If our bodies reach the point of being anywhere from 15 – 20 % dehydrated it can cause death. Symptoms of dehydration include dark urine, fatigue, hunger, dry skin and thirst. The suggested amount of water we should drink on a daily basis is eight servings of eight ounces. 

In staying hydrated we are regulating our body temperature, protecting and moisturizing our joints, detoxifying our system, increasing our immunity against illnesses, helping our organs to take in more nutrients, increasing our metabolism and maintaining the general health of our bodies by contributing to it’s key component. 

Some studies have shown that drinking water helps lead to weight loss. It is said that if you have two servings of water before every meal it will help to increase your metabolism as well as encourage you to eat smaller portions. Also, it is highly encouraged to replace all other beverages that you normally drink, such as soda or juice, with water.

 This significantly lowers the amount of sugar that your body intakes and helps contribute to weight loss as well.

Here are some tips on how to make drinking water a part of your daily routine: - Always carry a bottle of water around with you, you’ll find yourself reaching for it more often because it’s already in front of you - If you’re out to dinner or any social function and about to order your usual soda, try and only order water. You will be surprised to see how much of a difference it can make. - Instead of paying for bottled water, invest in a filter for your faucet or trying a Brita system. - Exercise, when you are working out you’re body is constantly sending you signals to hydrate and so it comes more naturally
